Sri Lanka finished 18th in the medals table at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships which was held in Gumi, South Korea. Sri Lanka secured three bronze medals at the championship.
Kalinga Kumarage won the bronze medal in the Men’s 400m event, while Sri Lanka secured a bronze medal in the 4x400m Mixed relay event and also in the Women’s 4x400m relay at the Asian Athletics Championships.
The championship which commenced on 27 May concluded on Saturday (30 May) with a dignified closing ceremony, marking the end of Gumi’s tenure as host.
As the curtains fell, all eyes turned to Xiamen, China – the next host of Asia’s premier athletics meet.
