Wesley is housed in group 1 A , alongside St. Peters, DS , Science , St Anthony’s, and Ananda College.

The Double Blue Jerseys will be optimistic of a spot in the super sixes alongside predicted favourites, namely Isipathana, St.Peters , Trinity, St Thomas’s, and Royal.

Please don’t count them out quote unquote Christopher Jordashe our mentor cum editor of our rugby scripts.

Revisiting their back to back tries against the might of Isipathana in the first half of the Presidents knock-out tournament, it indicates their talent of their penetrative three quarters, and the lightning speed of wing three-quarter of young Rodrigo.

Critics state that the try was executed in the tenth minute since Isipathana was playing with 14 men in the park. On the contrary ,It was clearly observed that do have a formidable forwards that will improve this season.

At the end of the day , what matters is that the 14 men in the park could not defend the tactical move by Wesley, who sucked their heavy forwards into a ruck and got their three-quarter line in motion and finish such attacking moves.

How did Wesley strike again. It was yet again their hard working forwards who looked more conditioned than Isipathana at the start of the game to get over the white wash off a 5-yard scrum , the line was set in motion and Rodrigo the winger touches down yet again for his second try.

This proves their three-quarter line synchronised well with the forwards a sign of flashy open rugby.
This side has potential to upset any top side.

Having stated the formidable teams strength, coach Henry Terrence will be concerned about the double blues weakness in defence at times. They are a shade too slow at breakdowns but surely Henry will improve that weakness.

Opposition sides have taken note of their abundance of infringements and lack of discipline which they conceed in mauls and rucks, including a few grey areas haunting their lineouts.

In their last outing against Isipathana, they missed scoring opportunities through the boot of a reliable place kicker.

They at times seem deceived by show and go skills executed by the opposition.Another area that needs improvement.

Wesley is good in ball handling skills and is blessed with well conditioned forwards, but energy and fitness levels of the players must be looked into because they seem vulnerable with fatigue towards the back end.

They conceded 14 points in the second half against Isipathana. It is not a lack of intent, but speculation is that it is pertinent to stay fit to play rugby and not play rugby to stay fit.

If Wesley can address these issues, they will emerge from dark horses tag to predictable winners tag.
