Earlier, the Royals elected to field first. Ayush Mhatre scored 43 runs, and Dewald Brevis contributed 42, helping Chennai post a total of 187/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Yudhvir Singh was the standout bowler for the Royals, claiming 3 wickets.
In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 36 and 57 runs respectively. Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer then finished the game with 17 balls to spare.
