The blue-and-black brigade from the school by the sea too came off a promising start with their high-scoring 59-35 win against Science College in the Mt. Lavinia derby. At their last meeting in 2024 (League), TCK won 31-8.
A key factor of yesterday’s game was that Trinity had exceptional forwards, who won the game for the Lions. They were exceptional on the breakdown, interceptions, and holding the Thomians off on two to three occasions in the second half.
Shrayan Satheeshkumar (6) of Trinity was outstanding for the hill country school as he was brilliant in defence, exceptional on the breakdown and winning the interception, scored a try in the first half, and was the pick of the stars in the outing.
Shan Althaf scored an absolute masterclass individual brilliance try, covering 50 m in the second half, which sealed the deal for TCK.
The Thomian Nos. 14 and 10 were exceptional in loose play but lacked the final execution. At the latter stages of the game, Trinity were reduced to 13 men and the Thomians had a golden opportunity to fight back. However, the Lions from Trinity stood sharp and survived another day to fight yet another battle next week.
