08 February 2010. Sri Lanka’s young Shehan Abepitiya became the fastest man in South Asia by winning the Men’s 100m dash here today in the 11th South Asian Games, Dhaka Bangladesh.
He clocked 10.46 seconds to take the prestigious title at the Bangabhandu International Stadium
The hopes of grabbing two gold medals in women’s and men’s 4x400 relay faded away as Sri Lankans could not over come the super power of India
Sri Lanka also lost the gold in Women’s 100m dash. Premila Priyadarshani had to satisfy with a silver. Nalin Priyantha took the bronze medal in Men’s High Jump event
Chaminda Wijekoon won the bronze medal in Men’s 5000m with a time of 14 minutes 47:68 seconds.
