Rain saved the Sri Lanka Under 19 side from certain defeat in the third tri-nation series match against their Pakistan counterparts played at the Rangiri Dambulu Stadium yesterday.
Sri Lanka chasing 268 for victory were struggling at 67 for 5 having faced 15.5 overs when the match was called off. Earlier in the day Pakistan invited to take first lease of the wicket made a formidable score of 267 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs.
A knock of 127 by opener Babar Azam was the highlight of the Pakistan innings. Azam’s knock comprised 14 boundaries. He was also associated in three fruitful partnerships for the first, second and third wickets with the best being 102 for the third wicket with Shahzaib Ahmed who made a half ton.
The two teams share two points each. Pakistan and Bangladesh will feature in the fourth match of the series today at the same venue. Bangladesh having lost their first two will have to win this game if they are to remain in contention.
