GOLDOC confident security agencies are ready for Comm Games

Commonwealth Games organisers are confident security will be up to scratch after a huge two-day security exercise.

Hundreds of emergency services workers have been put to the test in more than 130 exercises on the Coast.

They’ve most recently been tested on the readiness of venue security.

During the Games there’ll be more than 10,000 emergency service workers on the Gold Coast, making it the largest multi-agency security force to hit our shores.

GOLDOC Chairman Peter Beattie told  security is paramount.

“We need to keep people safe, we take this really seriously it’s one of our big challenges,” he said.

“These exercises are designed to make sure all the systems are coordinating.

“If you look at what’s happened in the world,  natural disasters and terrorist attacks recently have been worse than normal is because the agencies haven’t talked to each other.”

The 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games runs from April 4-15.
